SFP Haiti 2015 National Route 1
Psalms 90:17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the works of our hand.
The focus of our recent SFP team of Emery Pearson, Ben Frey, Tim Witherwax and Ron Lusk involved the work along Haiti’s National Route 1 north from the main city of Port Au Prince. Our team built three shades houses for very different and unique groups. One unit was for a very ambitious young lady Ellen Humerickhouse. Ellen has recently embarked on a ministry to develop a girls home north of PAP approx. 50 Km. She has acquired land and is building a house/home with help of several support church groups from the US. The Shade House will be utilized to help supplement their daily food needs as her ministry grows.
Our second unit was in the same area about 2 miles away at Tell Ministries for Mark and Sandra Julian. Mark and Sandra are old friends of SFP and our time with them was great. They are currently working at a children’s home/Pastors’ training center/medical center. The medical center will soon be upgraded to a regional hospital. This Shade House will be supportive to the children’s home and training center. And as of a few days ago they are already planting seeds brought in for their use.
The third unit built was at Titanyen National Rt 1 27 Km just up from Global Outreach Mission complex. This Shade House was for Pastor Kelly Balde’, who oversees nearly 10,000 worshippers each Lord’s day. There is a new church under construction which will seat 3,500 each Sunday. The area is developing commercially along with the expanding residential growth largely those moving out of Port. The Shade House is near the new church and will be utilized for helping church families.
Our team, in less than eight days, drove nearly one quarter mile of EMT pipe, assembled and erected nearly half mile of PVC sections, placed enough shade cloth to cover nearly half a football field not mentioning all concrete, bolts, washers, nut , screws, chicken wire, hog rings and door latches.
Through all this work we had time to pray, laugh, sweat, drink lots of water and still enjoyed the fellowship of believers while seeing God at work establishing our hands for His honor and glory. We knew by encouraging one another we would be steadfast, immovable, always abounding knowing the work is not in vain for our Lord. I Corinthians 15:58.
