Building a family size hoop house 14 x 28

We built a family size hoop house for Wes and Renee Russell.  The 14 x 28 size is
an ideal size for a family and we believe this would be an ideal size for use in Haiti. 
This was a great opportunity to determine cost, materials, and time for consturction.  
This hoop house provides 392 square feet of floor space which when filled with beds
and good soil can be a game changer for folks trying to grow food.
 Everything is leveled and squared to this corner post
 Starting out level is key
 Make it straight
 Splicing the hoops and purloins
 Level the hoops, install purloins and baseboard
 Special elbows and snap tees are key to building hte ends
 Fastening the edge of the shade cover

Kim's Greenhouse

We had the pivilege to meet a great lady named
Kim who needed some help finishing her greenouse
and getting things planted.  A group of great folks
from  Sustainable Food Production and Troy 1st
Baptist Church responded.  The cover was installed,
a new screen door made and installed, and the greenhouse
filled with plants.  As you can see Kim  pitched in to
complete the job.

URBAN GARDENING APRIL, 2013

April 20/27 saw the completion of a joint project of Sustainable Food Production and Urban Buds for an 18 x 40 green/shadehouse to promote urban gardening.  It was a great training project not only for those involved in urban gardening but also for some new mission workers who will be traveling to Haiti in July.  The project was complete with problems, rain, and mud, just what you need to prepare you for the unexpected you may experience on a mission trip outside the US.  Below are some pictures for your enjoyment and information.

Mission Statement MISSION STATEMENT OF SFP As Christ’s ministers we dedicate ourselves to the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ. We further dedicate ourselves to set a Godly example to those we serve through a Christian lifestyle, bear witness of what Christ has done in our lives, and share the Gospel message with the lost. We pledge ourselves to respect the work of other ministries, to lift them up in prayer, and to work with them for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom. Sustainable Food Production, SFP, is a Christian based organization dedicated to helping people help themselves by growing better gardens and healthier livestock. We are a small group of believers representing several church denominations and operating as a part of Global Compassion Ministries. Our goal is to introduce improved gardening techniques, provide quality seed, and improve goat and chicken production in order to strengthen families and promote food production independence.
